There are many different programs and services that may be available at a local community center. Many community centers offer after-school programs for children, which can include computer classes, sport activities and educational services. Other activities and areas for children at a community center may include a playground, fitness area and multi-purpose fields. Many community centers have special programs and events for elderly people as well, such as bingo and exercise clubs. Community centers are usually ideal places to visit when trying to find out information about a local area, as many of them have information about local parks and other public areas. Some community centers will also house small police sub-stations that service the community.
